Fedora 14, codenamed "Laughlin", is the last release of Fedora that uses the GNOME 2 desktop. It looks pretty much like Ubuntu 9.10 but with some different colors and icons. Compare to Fedora 15.

Fedora 14 Desktop
The Fedora 14 desktop looks just like GNOME should look. There are icons on the desktop, and two bars with visible and obvious menus.

Fedora 14 Menus
The menu arrangement is pretty much like any other version of Linux using GNOME 2.
One gripe is that the screenshooter STILL cannot take a screenshot with a menu open.

Fedora 14 File Management
Windows still have menu bars.

Fedora 14 Firefox
GTK+ applications like Firefox actually fit in with this desktop.

Fedora 14 Screensaver
The screensaver selection is lacking by default, just like it has been in GNOME 2 for a long time.

Fedora 14 Shutdown
Even shutting down is straightforward as well!

Conclusion:
Fedora 14 is one of the last of the great GNOME-based operating systems before it all went to hell in a handbasket with the release of GNOME 3.
